What is a Cluster Call?

What would it be like to have a peer group composed of intelligent, sensitive, curious people?

Hi, my name in Jerry Stocking, and for several years now I have been leading several such groups of people on Cluster Calls. I invite you to listen into a recent cluster call (below). You can also download the mp3 files if you wish and put them on your ipod.

People often find that “Cluster Calls” become the high point of their week. A personal verification, of sorts, as the calls become weekly gifts they give to themselves. Once upon a time, I lived in the woods of Northern Michigan. During the winter, we had to keep a fire going at night so the house wasn’t freezing cold when we woke in the morning. Cluster Calls can be like that; they use the dried tinder of your illusions to ignite the fires within you and keep you warm and burning bright. The calls will not only keep you on your toes, but keep them warm and toasty in the process.

Simply knowing there will soon be a Cluster Call where you can play is a treat in itself. Knowing you can ask me anything you want provides a buffer that expands your range of play. Having other people to play with in between calls helps you see that anything going on with you isn’t as serious or unusual as it seems when you are alone. We don’t “fix” each other…we “get” each other. And in that process we create a very special dance that includes space for each other and for ourselves.

I invite you to listen into the September 10th call.

As you listen to the cluster call, I invite you to ponder what a Cluster Call might sound like for you. What questions would you like to ask? What situation in your life have you been putting up with or wishing you could change? Is there something going on where you’d like some new perspective?  How do you think you might benefit by taking part in one or more of these calls or by listening in on them regularly?

Enjoy!!

Cluster Calls are an
Oasis.  You can dip into them just when you need to and replenish yourself.  You can heighten your curiosity, soften the work a day world and have time each week talking with wonderful people about what really matters to you.

What is a Cluster Call?

Not long ago, people would meet at the local feed store or coffee shop to discuss whatever was on their minds or in their hearts. Cluster Calls are just such an opportunity to “disappear” the space between us and explore how intimate and personal we can be. Would you like to listen into a cluster call? If so, CLICK HERE.

You Should Meet My Friends.

I define social security as having wonderful people around you. The people who experience the work we do have a few things in common. If you share some of these qualities, then it’s more than likely this work is for you too.

  • They’re smart.

  • They produce results.

  • They’re endlessly curious.

  • They’re willing to step away from what they know for what they don’t know.

  • They want the most life they can have each moment.

  • They are often brilliant but also willing to be confused.

  • They bravely meet parts of themselves that they like and don’t like.

  • They’re willing to stop searching and start finding.

  • They are often stuck in their heads seeking to escape.

  • Did I mention they are smart…really smart?

Everyone, and I do mean everyone, who has attended one of my courses has received value and benefit in their lives from being there and playing. I have an entire book of accolades: things people have said about our work after taking part in a JS-Course or two.

Some people show up for a JS-Course and discover this work really is for them. They already know (or discover) they really are committed to getting to know the deeper parts of themselves in this lifetime. These folks stay around and play. These people become friends. We become deep resources for one another and provide a level of support that doesn’t exist in very many places.

One of the places we play is on Cluster Calls. Three times a month we gather together over phone lines and dance. All calls are recorded, all calls are a riot, and all calls are a contribution to being awake, present, and balanced.

Being in a Cluster Course is a little like having Me in Your pocket to consult with, minus the bulge that having me in your pocket would surely create.

I have been leading JS-Courses for twenty-eight years. Over the years, course participants and I have explored and learned lots of cool stuff. But there was a problem. Mack, after attending an Illusion Course several years ago, put it well:  “I come to one of your courses and have an amazing time discovering valuable insights about myself. Then I go out into the world and the world wins.”

Transferring deep learnings into everyday life is tough.

In the last few years I have found a way to bridge the gap between deep wisdom and everyday life.  Would you like to sample a Cluster Call for yourself?

Are You tired of buying off the rack?

You can buy a ready made suit “off the rack” or you can have a suit made for you. The fit is very different. There is something special about something that is tailored to fit you. Self help that is off the rack can be a fine place to start, but at some point your specific patterns, your individual life situations, and your uniqueness deserve special attention.  And that’s where Cluster Calls fit the bill.

To take this a step further, self help of the popular best-seller variety isn’t even off the rack: it is “one size fits all.” And we know that doesn’t make for a good fit. While “you create your own reality” or “you have unlimited personal power” or “be the most fabulous person you can be” are all great ideas, they become useless slogans when they’re not applied intimately, personally and individually to fit YOU. What works for your neighbor might not work for you; over time, it may not even work that well for your neighbor.

What if you could find something special: an undiscovered tailor who can custom fit self help to your individual self? Imagine what a treat it would be to not only have someone understand you but also “get” exactly where you’re coming from while perceiving what may very well be next for you. Not a prescription…but a gentle nudging and compassionate coaxing in the direction you really want to go.

What if “self help and growth” could really be “personal help and growth”? Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

It would allow you to be understood and optimize the limited time you have for personal growth. It would continually pique your curiosity. It would offer you a new level of personal fulfillment while making you feel all warm inside and pleased to be alive.  It would assist you in getting to know yourself.

Incredible Journey

Getting to know yourself deeply is a wondrous, incredible, but sometimes harry journey: it helps to have a guide. A guide can not only show you shortcuts but can hold your hand when things get a little tough. Someone who knows the way can assist you and make the entire journey easier and more fun.

Whether you’re caught up in mundane struggles—trying to make more money, connecting with that perfect someone, losing a few pounds—or someone who already has a comfortable and successful life…increasing your spiritual depth might be just the thing for you. Spiritual depth offers continual perspective and reveals the deep calm within you that isn’t the least bit influenced by worldly concerns. If you are a “success,” you probably already know the importance of keeping things moving—discovering new challenges, dances, and parts of yourself that you haven’t met yet.

Socrates said, “Know Thyself.” I say, “He, or she, who meets, greets, and embraces the most parts of themselves wins…and so does everyone around them.”

Giddy Up

There is a pace to life: too fast and you get in trouble, too slow and you grow bored and disinterested. To squeeze the most out of life, you need to dance forward at the right pace, which is your pace. Find your pace by getting to know yourself. For twenty-eight years I have been a catalyst in helping people get to know themselves. I can do the same for you.

Homeschooling two kids—to say nothing of working with thousands of people—has taught me a lot about pace. My daughter Emily, now twenty-two, is fast. She learns things in an auditory fashion the same way I do. My son Judson, seventeen, seems to grasp things more slowly as he learns kinesthetically. I have certainly had my share of false starts in appreciating and adjusting my teaching methods to suit Judson’s style of learning.

I am continually amazed watching people as they learn in workshops. Some people get things right away, some people take years. The variations between people—in terms of pacing—are much greater than their similarities. I receive calls from people who attended JS-Courses ten or fifteen years ago who say, “I just got what you meant when you said…”.

One of the things I have learned in teaching JS-Courses is to vary pace (and vary the variation of pace) so that everyone is included. One of the ways I teach is to discover who is the fastest person in a JS-Course and who is the slowest. Then I play within a range that’s just slightly faster than the fastest person and slightly slower than the slowest. That way everyone gets taken care of. On a Cluster Call, you can ask anything about anything. You will get taken care of, always.

Inexperienced teachers seem to teach by their own limitations, which—in fact—has them teach their own limitations to others. This approach isn’t really optimal.

The expansiveness that comes from teaching from many different levels simultaneously creates an inclusive party that keeps the learning process fresh, sweet, and succulent as the group members share a similarity in their individual levels of challenge.

The Next Level?

Wouldn’t it be neat (or optimal) if as soon as you master one level of interaction within yourself you found the next one?

Personal growth is about getting to know the many levels of yourself. On different levels, there are very different perspectives. The more levels you can grace, the better you know yourself, the more flexible your perspective, and the broader your definition of life. In other words, with more levels comes more life.  There are specific transitions in the process of getting to know yourself.  One of the analogies I created to illustrate this process is “The Dancing Bears.”

There are three bears.  “Little Bear” is the mind and the realm of thought.  Little Bear always has an agenda and lives in a world of dichotomies where the trick is to be “good” rather than “bad” or “right” instead of “wrong.”  Little Bear is very insecure, doesn't really run the show, and endlessly tries to gain control.  Little Bear is, at the same time, the source of most of our attention and the recipient of it as well.  “Middle Bear” is all heart and emotions.  Middle Bear is our first taste of “Infinite” because Middle Bear contains all feelings and emotions.  The transition and communication between Middle Bear and Little Bear is a prime focus of what I call The Elite Cluster Call. This transition has you tap into much more energy and much more ability to relieve Little Bear of stress and trauma. The third bear is “Big Bear” who is infinite and contains formless possibility. Big Bear is a huge threat to Little Bear and requires Middle Bear to act as a mediator so they can relate to one another. On the “Elite” Cluster Call we explore Big Bear and the universe within ourselves. This universe often appears to be a void, but it actually contains everything.

If you are ready for more dancing and less struggle, more of what you want, and a return to your natural intelligence and genuineness…all three bears need to dance together.  Having them dance and play together is exactly why I invented cluster calls.

The process of getting to know the different levels of yourself brings up all kinds of emotions. The variations you perceive in who you are can be quite unsettling. If you would like some assistance in the process of discovering and integrating different levels of who you are you have come to the right place.

As you discover your levels you will reveal greater intelligence, growing smarter and smarter as you observe the conversion of that intelligence into wisdom by making it practical. Dancing between levels makes you much more flexible and allows you to be nourished by almost everything that happens around you. The things that used to upset you will inspire and entertain you.

A flat landscape may seem easier to navigate, but this is an illusion. A more accurate topographical map of yourself will reveal many highs and lows. These are the changes in elevation that make your life truly interesting and worth paying attention to.

If you’d like to explore the different levels of yourself, I invite you to play with us in a Cluster Call.

Can I Trust You?

As you read this letter you may begin to wonder if you can trust me. After all, you don’t know me well and I am going to say some fairly radical things. Listen to the free CD and trust yourself.  Discover if this might be what you are looking for.

I enjoy observing people. One thing that strikes me in leading JS-Courses for 28 years and writing and publishing six books about people and how they think is that we really don’t know ourselves very well.

You are Wasting Your Time and Money

There is a lot of self-help, self-development stuff around. Much of it is good, but a whole lot of it is a waste of time. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, more precious than the time you spend on yourself. We are all under great pressure. We work longer hours and when we aren’t working we think and worry about work. Heck! The schedules our kids follow are enough to wear us out. And if they are young enough to require transportation or old enough to figure out how much money they can cajole from us, then we really are just too darned busy! This frantic pace can make our own personal growth appear to be a luxury.

Can you afford the time to read that next self-help fad book that won’t really make a difference in your life? Can you justify the money and time to travel half way across the country to sit in a room with hundreds (or even thousands) of other “seekers” to hear someone who is more famous than accomplished speak for a few hours? Getting to know yourself is a process. It takes time and practice and while there are shortcuts, the process of getting to know you is still a mystery.

Here are a few things that the self-help marketers don’t want you to know:

  • Nobody knows specifically what will have you grow.

  • Personal development is an ongoing and endless process.

  • Many people selling programs don’t even use them themselves.

  • You are infinitely accomplished already and turn away from your brilliance each moment.

  • What works for you today may not work tomorrow.

  • There is no structure or form to the process of getting to know yourself.

If you are trying to get somewhere you need to know where you are. There are no “general” directions to the mall. There are directions to the mall from downtown or from the airport. In the world of self discovery, the single most important thing you need to know is where you are now. Really where you are NOW. And where you are now, if you are growing, keeps changing. The beauty of Cluster Calls is that we play with where you are in each moment. We don’t give you a blanket approach; we dance with the present moment and the now of your current location. Cluster Calls provide you with ongoing coaching from someone who knows a lot of the terrain and is willing to admit it when he doesn’t know.

General approaches and general directions give you general results. Sure, there are similarities between people. Certainly we are much more the same than we might like to admit. But the small and subtle distinctions among us are the things that make life and the path of self discovery truly entertaining. These differences are also what makes a group of peers be the very thing we need to continually provide us with perspective in our lives.

Farmers once gathered at the feed store. They had such similar problems and such similar lives that they provided much needed perspective for each other. You might want to think of a Cluster Call as a similar kind of gathering place—a feed store for people interested and truly exploring who they are, what they are up to, and what is of value to them.

You Will Go Down

One of the most valuable, and nearly unspoken, aspects of personal growth is that you will go down. Most self-help is geared toward having more happy than sad, more pleasure than pain, more rich than poor. These approaches, while marketable, are just plain naïve. Certainly you want more fun than suffering, but life doesn’t happen that way. In life…you get what you get. When you go down, it is very useful to have people to hold your hand, people who understand what it is like to be inundated by feelings and emotions. Clusters are perfect places to explore anything that is going on with you and discover that you are not alone.

Clusters Are For YOU

In life, there’s an all-important shift that is available to you. It is subtle yet important.  It is the dance of attention from object to subject.  The opportunity is to focus more on the "YOU" than on what you "GET". This shift from object to subject moves your attention from a world of content to a world of process. It enlivens and animates you. It opens the door to your being nourished by things.  You are not a thing, you are a process.

As you begin to notice YOU as a process you will become more present. This shift from content to process takes time, practice, and experience.  Yet you can hasten it by playing with a group of your peers who are up to the same sort of magic.

If you are consumed by noticing what you are getting rather than who is getting it, you are locked into being a response. You become a victim of all that is happing to you rather than being the context wherein everything is happening.  As process, you will discover yourself as a context. The simple results of this realization are a much happier, healthier, more intimate, richer, and more lived life.

The discovery process I am describing is best done in the light.  Other people, and a good teacher, will provide the light that allows you to see, hear, and feel what is going on with you on many different levels. Let’s discover if a Cluster group is right for you and, if so, let’s determine which one you belong in.  To learn much more about Cluster Courses please call 800.899.2464 or e-mail us.

We Are In This Together

If you are ready for a boost in self discovery, a much fuller life, and a shift away from things that have been bothering you for way too long, please join me and my friends in a Cluster Group and get started on new and exciting challenges. If you are ready for new friends  and a new set of peers who are smart, interesting, and worth playing with, then please make sure contact us.  Even if you aren't sure a Cluster Group is for you it will benefit from listening into the Elite Call.

If you are ready to move beyond theory to practice, there’s no better place for you than a Cluster Call. With the behavioral discovery that your mind is not all there is comes the much deeper physical realization (and relief) of not having to be in control.

Reading about this kind of monumental discovery pales in comparison to having the experience itself. And a wonderful bonus is allowing your transformation to be witnessed by a group of people who understand and are compassionate toward what you are going through. We will all learn from our shared experiences even as we are sustained and encouraged by them. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, like a skilled and experienced leader and a group of willing and able individuals on the mission of getting to know themselves. Please join us by ordering a free CD or by listening in on a no-obligation Cluster Call.

I invite you to join a Cluster Call.  On the calls you will have a chance to meet and play with peers.  You will enhance every aspect of your life and have a darned good time doing so.  Please join us!

One really neat thing about a Cluster Call is that we can work on any subject that’s relevant to YOU. Another sweet thing is that no matter what we talk about, we will  always be exploring how you can love and embrace yourself more fully and deeply. This is the foundation of every phone call.
